David Blaine while performance

Renowned illusionist David Blaine makes his Middle East debut in Abu Dhabi in August 21. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and Flash Entertainment, the ‘David Blaine: Real or Illusion?' show will be held at the Emirates Palace until August 23, as part of the Summer Abu Dhabi festival.
For three death-defying nights, the live show will feature a slew of tricks and endurance that have blown the minds of thousands of people around the world.
A New York magician, illusionist and endurance artist, Blaine is among the world's best at what he does. He started in the 1990s with street magic, quickly conquering audiences at home and abroad, and moved on to daring, death defying acts.
In 1999, he locked himself in a cramped plastic coffin submerged in a three tonne-water tank for seven days, eating nothing and drinking a maximum of three tablespoons of water per day.
In 2002, despite cold, strong winds, he turned himself into a statue, being airlifted by a crane onto a narrow, half-metre long platform, on top of a 30 metre-high pillar. Blaine stood there, without any safety harnesses for 35 hours.
For the Emirates Palace show, he has promised "brand new acts”.
