Sharjah’s residents and visitors keen to savour the very best in gastronomic delights should head to Al Majaz Waterfront - a leading leisure and tourist destination - from March 31 to April 9, to enjoy the activities of the 10th edition of the Sharjah Food Festival.
Organized by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), under the slogan “Many Flavors, one Festival”, the 10-day Sharjah Food Festival is also being held in other areas of the emirate, including Al Qasba, Al Montazah and Heart of Sharjah. The event will see a host of celebrity regional and international chefs demonstrating their culinary prowess at live cooking stations - just one of an array of mouthwatering experiences on offer.
Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, Chief Operating Officer of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), said; “Al Majaz Waterfront is one of the most popular areas in Sharjah, for local residents as well as for regional and international tourists. We are delighted that Al Majaz Waterfront will play host as one of the destinations for the 10th edition of Sharjah Food Festival is Al Majaz Waterfront and are looking forward to the participation of celebrity chefs at the event. and the UAE to come to Al Majaz Waterfront during Sharjah Food Festival to enjoy tasty food, witness celebrity chefs in action, and learn how to create delicious dishes.”
Other engaging and interactive activities taking place at Al Majaz Waterfront during the Sharjah Food Festival include ‘dish-of-the-day,’ which will take place daily from 6:00pm to 6:30pm. Popular restaurants located along Al Majaz Waterfront will be taking part, with a different outlet participating for each day of the festival. There will be an ‘on-spot’ cooking challenge for audience members each day from 5:00pm to 5:30pm, while women’s associations and foundations will be going head-to-head in cooking competitions every day from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. There will also be “cook with the chef” activity where visitors help the chef in preparing a meal each day from 7:00pm to 8:00pm.
Away from the purely culinary action on offer at the Sharjah Food Festival, there is plenty to keep young and old minds entertained. International performance artists are travelling from France, Italy, Romania and Japan to enthrall visitors with displays of juggling, dance, drama and comedy. Children will be well catered throughout the festival with a Sesame Street Food Carnival that includes such activities as ‘Guess with Elmo’ and ‘Grow your Colour.’ There will also be recycling workshops, fabric printing and meet and greets.
