Andrew Flintoff celebrates his points win over Richard Dawson
Andrew Flintoff\'s boxing career could be over after just one fight, with the former England all-rounder suffering a serious shoulder injury.
Flintoff made his long-awaited senior debut against American Richard Dawson in Manchester last month
And was keen on continuing his new career under the guidance of former world champion Barry McGuigan.
However, the former cricketer has been told that his torn shoulder ligament requires surgery and could rule him out of action altogether.
Despite the blow, Flintoff, who now boasts a lean figure, thanks to his fitness and dietary regime may well return to cricket. \"The injury to his shoulder will be taken into account but at this stage we are ruling nothing in and nothing out,\" said a spokesman for Flintoff. \"It is a nasty one but he has had a lot nastier during his life. We will just wait and see and report back in the New Year and see where we go. There are certainly leads to chase.\"
The 35-year old was given a rapturous reception on his four-round debut, with friends and family in the crowd cheering him on. After the bout, New Zealand batsman Jesse Ryder called Flintoff out for an exhibition fight. However, those plans are now on hold until Flintoff makes a firm decision on his future.
