Anna Fenninger celebrates beating rival Tina Maze by 0.44 seconds
Austria\'s Anna Fenninger claimed her second consecutive World Cup victory here on Saturday by winning the giant slalom with overall World Cup winner Tina Maze second, AFP has reported.
Having led after
the first run, Fenninger, 23, backed up last Sunday\'s Super-G victory in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with a winning time here of 2min 29.30sec with Slovenia\'s Maze second at 0.44sec.
Germany\'s Viktoria Rebensburg finished third at 0.96sec over the two runs down the Ofterschwanger Horn course.
Maze extends her record World Cup points tally to 2154 in the overall rankings, having beaten Hermann Maier\'s 13-year-old previous mark of 2000 last weekend.
The Slovenian is also the runaway giant slalom leader this season with 700 points in the discipline, with Fenninger second on 435 points.
Having had her victory as this season\'s overall World Cup title confirmed in Meribel a fortnight ago, Maze is hoping to finish the season with six titles by also adding the downhill, combined, giant slalom, Super-G and slalom individual titles.
The racing continues here in the Bavarian Alps with Sunday\'s slalom before the World Cup season finale starts in Lenzerheide, Switzerland on March 13.
