A plane has crash-landed at Dubai International Airport, according to the Dubai government media office.
Emirates airline has confirmed that a plane carrying 275 passengers and crew has been "involved in an accident".
It said the flight involved was EK251 coming from Kerala, India.
Footage showed flames bursting out of the body of the aircraft.
Clouds of black smoke could be seen billowing from the plane, said to be a Boeing 777-300 A6-EMW, in other pictures posted to social media.
A spokesman for Dubai Airport said that all passengers and crew had been safely evacuated.
Emergency response teams are working to ensure the safety of those on board, the Dubai government media office said on Twitter.
The Dubai government has delayed all departure flights until further notice.
Air traffic monitor Flightradar24 said that takeoffs and landings at Dubai had been suspended, with flights being diverted.
An aviation expert has told Sky News that a wind shear warning was in place in Dubai at the time of the crash.
