Book title reads, Months of accomplishment, President Morsi builds Egypt again
The Muslim Brother ruling party in Egypt are promoting a new book that outlines the achievements of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi.
Entitled, Months of accomplishment, President Morsi builds Egypt again, the book is authored and compiled by Dr. Reza Masri, an educational expert and writer for several Islamist websites.
The 124-page book includes five chapters giving details of the political, military, economic and social work Morsi has so far accomplished during his first 250 days in power.
The economic agreements Morsi secured with a number of foreign countries are also chronicled.
The document claims the Egyptian president managed to eliminate the military rule in the country and establish a mechanism for national dialogue.
It adds that Morsi formed a technocratic government and Egypt has since witnessed the passage of a new constitution aiming to protect the freedoms and rights of citizens. The book fails to mention many leaders of leaders of the former ruling National Democratic Party.
It also praises the presidential decision to expel former Public Prosecutor Abdel-Meguid Mahmoud, describing it an important step towards cleansing the Egyptian judiciary.
The book has been criticised by anti-government activists for glorifying Morsi’s achievements. They added that it is Morsi’s first and last year in power due to his failure to successfully rule the country.
The author stated what drove him to write the book is the “incorrect picture the media paints of Morsi, which distorts his decisions.”
Critics suggest the book aims improve Morsi’s image in the public eye prior to the upcoming June 30 demonstrations calling for his dismissal.
