The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) decided to approve Morocco's request to join the group during the summit of the group's heads of states and governments that was held On Sunday in Monrovia, Liberia.
Morocco joined this group after its historical return to the African union during last January in Addis Ababa. ECOWAS consists of 15 countries to face the different challenges of the African continent, and to develop the African countries economies in order to strengthen regional integration and cooperation between south countries as a reliable alternative to promote the continent's rise.
Ever since Morocco officially filed the request to join ECOWAS last February, number of diplomatic missions of different levels headed to West African capitals to defend Morocco, where the kingdom’s request to join the group, was supported by the region countries.
