Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika did not attend celebrations marking the \"Night of Power\" for the end of Ramadan on Wednesday, which has propped up
debates regarding his health again.
The Algerian leader attends the celebration on an annual basis, however this year his place was taken by Algeria\'s Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal who had to represent the president instead.
Political experts expect the absence of the Algerian president to continue for weeks.
Sources told Arab Today that a medical staff, composed of four French doctors, is supervising the case of the Algerian president.
Algerian newspaper al-Khabar said on Wednesday that Bouteflika has not left his place of residence since his return from Paris months ago.
It denied rumours circulating recently about transferring the Algerian president to Switzerland for treatment.
The newspaper added that medical staff are subjecting the president to a number of activities targeting organs of the body that were affected by the stroke.
Bouteflika was expected to discuss the complementary financial law in the cabinet, as well as a number of issues relating to fuel, mines, investment, and media.
The Algerian parliament is unable to pass any laws without ratifying them by the president.
Al-Khabar revealed that Bouteflika\'s medical staff have refused the president from receiving any officials during Eid al-Fitr.
Furthermore, Algerian officials have not been allowed to visit the president since his return from France.?
