Mathew's reserve is located at 1100 meters above sea level covering an area of 6,000 hectares in Tartous province. It is famous for its numerous fountains and its volcanic soil, and it hosts various kinds of animals and birds. The resort also includes all kinds of conifer trees, and it is an important source for producing wood. Head of Forestry Directorate, Hassan Saleh, said the directorate has cultivated new kinds of trees and increased the percentage of cultivated land in the resort up to 75%, adding that the directorate established a center for managing this resort.
