Islamabad - KUNA
A special flight arrived at eastern Lahore city of Pakistan on Tuesday bringing back 258 stranded Pakistanis from Libya, said Foreign Office.
According to Pakistan Foreign Office, it was the 6th such flight since August 13, 2014 organized for evacuating thousands of stranded Pakistanis in Libya and brings the total number of Pakistanis airlifted to Pakistan to 1727.
Around 1800 destitute Pakistanis are still awaiting evacuation, presently, housed in relief camps set up by the Pakistan Embassy in Tripoli.
Frequent flights are planned during the coming week so as to ensure that the stranded Pakistanis being supported in emergency accommodation are brought back to their homes at the earliest, as per Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif's directive.
All required support and sustenance is being provided to Pakistani nationals in Libya by our Embassy in Tripoli, which is fully functional despite the ongoing instability and violence in the country, the foreign office added. (end) sbk.ibi
