Singapore\'s Changi Airport is expected to register over 50 million passengers in 2012, as the figure achieved on Friday with the arrival of a flight from Jakarta. The airport said in a statement that the passenger traffic at Changi Airport has continue to grow strongly due to an increasing number of low cost travel options and booming demand for intra- Asia travel. \"The number of passengers departing from, arriving at and transiting through Changi Airport rose 10.7 percent in 2011 and increased 11 months of 2012.\" the airport added. It has been just two years after the airport crossed 40 million passenger movements in 2010. From the start of the year, travels to and from Northeast Asia and South Asia have registered double-digit growth, while tradition strong market such as Southeast Asia, Southwest Pacific and Europe also continued to grow healthily. \"As at Dec. 1st, Changi Airport serves 109 airlines operating some 6,400 weekly scheduled flights to and from more than 230 cities in 60 countries and territories worldwide.\" said the airport. The airport also released that Indonesia still remains Changi\'s top country market, with 13.4 percent of total traffic handled during the period from January to November.
