Riyadh - Arab Today
Director General of Saudi Arabian Airlines Saleh Al-Jasser said the proportion of flights on time by Saudia is one of the highest in the world.
“This doesn’t mean there are no delayed flights, for there are but the on-time ratio stands at 90 percent. There are 600 flight operations, and maybe only 60 are delayed as Saudi Arabian Airlines is working on global standards and very much seeks to lower those trips that result in delay,” he pointed out.
Al-Jasser said Saudia is seeking to lower the burden on visitors and find alternatives according to operational conditions. On compensations, he said these are regulated by the laws of each country, “and we apply them as well.”
He added Saudia is moving forward in the execution of its strategic plan to double what it has achieved in 70 years, in just seven years. This strategy includes targets to be realized by 2020, which are divided along five features, the first of which includes modernizing and growing its fleet to increase flights by 1,000 trips per day, increasing the number of travelers to 45 million a year, and increasing its planes by 200 by 2020. Al-Jasser added this means big additions to the fleet and doing away with older planes.
The second feature is increasing operational capability related to human resources and improving the fleet and increasing productivity; and the third feature is improving the “total service experience of clients” with the use of modern technology, website and application of smart systems launched on the planes as of late, and adding more. He added the final feature is offering new service products including for different groups of travelers.
Al-Jasser added next week Saudia will receive aircraft equipped with suites for first class travelers that provides extra privacy and different equipment, from Boeing in Seattle.
He said Saudi Arabian Airlines is rapidly moving forward to heighten its level of service and operational capability, and is ready to compete on a greater level, much more than any time in the past.
