Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev threatened to prevent foreign airplanes from passing through Russia's airspace.
Medvedev warned the US and the European Union against the sanctions imposed over Russia's economy, noting that his country will have to take anti-sanctions measures, in a statement aired by the Russian television on Thursday.
Russia will not allow Ukrainian airplanes heading to Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia to pass through, said the Prime Minister, adding that his country will not allow the import of food including vegetables, fruits and meat from Australia, the US, the EU, Canada and Norway.
Vladimir Putin issued an order yesterday to impose retaliatory sanctions on countries which had imposed economic sanctions on Russia over its actions in Ukraine.
