Ras Al Khaimah - Arabstoday
RAK Airways, the flagship carrier of Ras Al Khaimah and one of the youngest airline of the UAE, has announced on Saturday that the airline will operate daily flights to its South Indian destination Calicut, effective from 15 Dec 2012. The flights to Calicut will leave RAK International Airport at 8.50pm daily (except on Friday) and will arrive in Calicut at 2am Indian time. The daily return flights will take off at 3am Indian time from Calicut and will land in RAK at 5.35am local time, said an official. “On Friday, the flight has been scheduled to leave RAK airport at 10:20pm and arrive in Calicut at 3:25am. The return from Calicut on Saturday is at 4.25am and the flight will arrive in RAK airport at 7am.” John Brayford, CEO of RAK Airways, said, “The decision to increase its frequency from the Ras Al Khaimah International Airport to one of its key destinations Calicut International Airport has been taken to meet increasing demand from Keralite expatriates living across the UAE.” “Passenger demand on our Calicut flights has always been exceptionally good. I believe stepping up the frequency will satisfy our passenger mix of tourists as well as the significant number of expatriates from the Kerala state, working in the UAE and in GCC,” he added. “The new flight schedule will also provide excellent connections for travellers who are working in the other GCC countries within our network, namely Doha and Jeddah,” Brayford pointed out. According to him, RAK Airways made a historical landmark in Oct this year by being the UAE flag carrier to fly into the UAE capital Abu Dhabi. “It’s the first UAE flag carrier to codeshare with fellow UAE flag carrier Etihad Airways.”
