Customs authorities at Abu Dhabi international airport foiled an attempt by an Arab man to smuggle more than 1,000 Tramadol pills, narcotic-like pain relievers which are used to treat medium to severe pain. The unnamed man, who had arrived from another Arab country, had concealed the 14 drug packs inside his bag which was searched by customs men after suspecting its belongings, the Arabic language daily Al Ittihad said. The passenger and the smuggled stuff were handed over to the competent authorities, the paper said.
