Minister of Labour and Minister of Tourism Nidal Qatamin on Tuesday discussed ways to bolster cooperation with UNESCO in the fields of tourism and antiquities.
At a meeting with the UNESCO representative in Jordan, Costanza Farina, the minister spoke about the Kingdom's history and its heritage sites and Islamic and Christian religious shrines.
Qatamin also spoke about his ministry's efforts to attract more tourists and inspire them to stay for a longer period in the Kingdom through tailored programmes. These efforts, he added, also aim to create jobs for Jordanians.
Qatamin valued the UN agency's support for the tourist sites in Jordan, noting that the Kingdom has a number of historical sites that are on the list of world heritage.
The UNESCO official, on her part, valued the efforts exerted by the ministry to serve the tourism sector in Jordan.
