Pakistani authorities have launched first Metro Bus Service in the city of Lahore – the first major urban public transportation scheme in the country. The $300 million project was completed in collaboration with the Turkish company Al-Buraq. With the aim to provide safe, efficient and comfortable urban transportation system in the major cities of Punjab; the Government of Punjab has established Punjab Metrobus Authority (PMA) for construction, operation and maintenance of mass transit system. It is meant to transport up to 12,000 passengers an hour along a 29-kilometer route that links Lahore’s suburbs to the city center.
