The Egyptian National Railways will activate a law on railway travel in a bid to counter the rising offence of ticket evasion.

ENR set up 30 ticket-selling kiosks in main train stations and erected gates on platforms to prevent any passengers from entering unless having bought a ticket, ENR Chairman Ahmed Hamed said.

The authority has also raised the number of ticket conductors and inspectors on entrance and exit gates and platforms, he said.
