European aircraft manufacturer giant Airbus on Wednesday said it has won a new order of fifteen A330-300s from Singapore Airlines (SIA). The new order \"will join an existing fleet of 19 A330-300s at the carrier,\" Airbus said in a statement on its website. The newly ordered aircraft would be operated between Singapore and destinations across the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East, the statement said. \"The news underscores the position of the A330 as the most popular aircraft in its class,\" noted John Leahy, chief operating officer of Airbus\' customers department. To date Airbus has signed more than 1,100 orders for the various versions of its aircraft and more than 750 A330s are currently flying with over 80 airlines worldwide. The France-based company won a record of about 72.2 billion U.S. dollars worth of business for a total of 730 aircraft at the just-concluded Paris Air Show in Le Bourget last week.
