Peter Dinklage and Taylor Schilling have been cast in an off-Broadway production of A Month in the Country.
The 45-year-old actor will portray Mikhail Rakitin, a family friend and devoted admirer of Schilling's character, Natalya Petrovna. Petrovna is the bored wife of rich landowner Arkadi Islayev, and Rakitin must suffer as his affections remain unrequited.
Russian author Ivan Turgenev (Fathers and Sons) published the play in 1855, and the production was first staged in 1872. The play has been performed in English in New York and London since the 1930s, and actresses such as Ingrid Bergman and Helen Mirren have starred as Petrovna.
Erica Schmidt, Dinklage's wife, will direct the revival. The show is scheduled to run January 9 through February 15, 2015 at the Classic Stage Company theater in New York.
Dinklage and Schilling previously starred together in Uncle Vanya at Bard College in 2008. The actor will reprise his role as Tyrion Lannister on Game of Thrones in spring 2015, while the actress will return as Piper Chapman on Orange is the New Black in summer 2015. Both actors are nominated for a 2014 Emmy award for their respective roles.
