Emilia Clarke joined a growing list of women who are throwing their hats into the theoretical ring to play the next James Bond

Game of Thrones’ actress Emilia Clarke joined a growing list of women who are throwing their hats into the theoretical ring to play the next James Bond.
In an interview with the Daily Star, HBO’s Mother of Dragons said she would “love to play Jane Bond.” Her suggested Bond boy co-star is also pretty inspired: “My ultimate leading man would be Leonardo DiCaprio,” Clarke said. “No doubt about it.”
It’s all highly hypothetical, but it’s hard not to chuckle at the idea of DiCaprio playing a disposable, ogle-worthy second fiddle.
Perhaps he’d be more amenable to the idea now that he’s finally gotten his Oscar. If not, maybe Chris Hemsworth would be down to add another eye-candy role to his repertoire after Ghostbusters.
When it comes to wannabe Bonds, Clarke is in good company. In February, Elizabeth Banks told Entertainment Weekly that she would like to play the UK’s top secret agent. Earlier this month, Gillian Anderson retweeted a fan-made poster of herself as 007. And when Priyanka Chopra sat down with Complex for the magazine’s June/July cover story, she scoffed at the idea of playing a Bond girl: “I wanna be Bond.”
It’s worth noting that Skyfall and Spectre director Sam Mendes has said fan support will not decide our next Bond: Daniel Craig was not exactly a fan favorite himself when he was chosen for the role.
