Libyan Foreign Minister Mohammad al Dairi on Monday phoned his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry.
In statements to MENA, the Libya top diplomat said he called his Egyptian counterpart to express his appreciation for the statement released Sunday by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry which underlined the importance of reaching a political agreement in Libya as soon as possible in order to form a national unity government.
The Libyan official also said he agreed with the Egyptian minister on the importance of the draft proposal prepared by the UN negotiators in Morocco to help warring factions in Libya form a unity government in an attempt to end years of chaos in Libya.
The Libya diplomat highlighted the importance of Egypt's Foreign Ministry statement in view of the Libyan people's appreciation for Egypt's high position and its ability to work out a political and security solution for the crisis in Libya.
He also thanked Egypt for its backing to Libya, citing its high esteem and position in the Arab nation in particular and the international community in general.
On Sunday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry released a statement which asserted the importance of reaching a position outcome to ongoing talks to form a national unity government in Libya.
The Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Badr Abdel Atti asserted that Egypt would exert it utmost to back Libya in all the coming phase to realize stability and security and enable the Libyan authorities and government regain control over all territories without delay.
