Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women

Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Hala Al-Ansari, received at the SCW’s premises Maldives President’s Special Envoy and the Minister of Gender and Family, Aminath Zeneesha Shaheed Zaki, who is currently on a visit to the kingdom.

Al-Ansari highlighted the efforts exerted by the SCW, under the leadership of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and the SCW President, within the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women, as well programmes to mainstream their needs in development and ensure the sustainability of their participation in the nation-building process.

Al-Ansari stressed that Bahraini women have succeeded in reaching high decision-making posts, noting that Bahrain is seeking to be an international thank tank in women-related issues and affairs, citing the kingdom’s contributions and initiatives, the last of which was the Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women Empowerment.

The Maldives minister expressed appreciation of and admiration for the Bahraini women’s achievements, which, she said, will reflect positively on their country’s progress.

She expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would be strengthened through signing a memorandum of understanding in the future to avail of Bahrain’s experience regarding the National Model for the Integration of Women’s Needs in Development.

She stressed her country’s keenness on being informed about the SCW’s efforts to ensure the implementation of policies to achieve equal opportunities and increase women’s contributions to the national economy.
