Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met here Tuesday with Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs Charles Flanagan.
Abbas briefed the Irish official on the latest developments in Palestinian territories focusing specifically on Israel's withholding of Palestinian tax money. Abbas called on the international community and the European Union to pressure Israel into releasing the money.
He also expressed his appreciation for Ireland's efforts in the rebuilding of Gaza. For his part, the Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs said that his administration backed a two-state solution. They were also against Israel's illegal settlement policy, he added.
