Iraqi President Fuad Masum discussed Monday with United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon relations between the two sides and ways of strengthening the role of the United Nations and the international community in support the Iraqi people in the current fight against terrorism.
They also discussed assistance of the Iraqi government in the reconstruction of the areas liberated from the control of Daaesh organization and bringing an end to the plight of the displaced Iraqis.
A presidential statement said Masum and Ban Ki-moon also discussed during today's meeting, a number of regional and international issues of common concern.
During the meeting Masum stressed Iraq's full determination to eliminate terrorism and its strongholds in the country, reiterating Iraq determination to achieve a comprehensive and genuine national reconciliation including everyone, except terrorists, and respecting the interests of all components and the governorates of Iraq. He called on the United Nations to help Iraq in solving the problem of more than two million people displaced due to terrorism.
