is Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today received Lord Sebastian Coe, President of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) at Gudaibiya Palace. His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS), President of the West Asian Athletics Association and the President of the Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA) also attended the meeting.
The Crown Prince highlighted the important role the Bahraini youth plays in accelerating sustainable development. His Royal Highness added that Bahrain will continue to work hard to deliver opportunities for its young people.
The Crown Prince praised the achievements made within Bahrain’s youth and sport sector. He added that over the past few years Bahrain has competed in several international tournaments and Olympic sports, noting that the exceptional talent and dedication of the Kingdom’s youth had made the entire nation proud.
The Crown Prince also praised the positive impact of women in the sport and youth sector, in particular the role of the Supreme Council for Women led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW)
The Crown Prince went on to reaffirm the Kingdom’s commitment to provide modern sport facilities for all, in order to nurture sports talent and provide athletes with the support they deserve.
The Crown Prince emphasised the role sportsmanship plays in promoting integrity and fairness, stressing that these characteristics extend throughout the wider development initiatives that increase Bahrain’s competitiveness regionally and internationally.
The Crown Prince welcomed Lord Coe to the Kingdom of Bahrain. Lord Coe is visiting the Kingdom to attend the IAAF Gender Leadership Taskforce meeting
