Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met in Washington with new US National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, who assumed his post last week in succession of Michael Flynn.
During the meeting, Shoukry congratulated the US official on assuming his new post, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid on Tuesday.
Shoukry voiced keenness on boosting Egyptian-US ties in the various spheres, added the spokesman.
He also shed light on the latest economic, social and political developments in Egypt, said the spokesman.
McMaster was keen on getting acquainted with efforts exerted by Egypt to combat terrorism along with the viewpoint of the Egyptian government toward the latest developments, especially the situation in Libya, Syria, Iraq and Yemen, added the spokesman.
McMaster said that the new US administration is keen on promoting cooperation with Egypt in the various spheres within the upcoming phase, according to the spokesman.
