Munich - Emirates Voice
The ambassadors of Bahrain, the UAE and Egypt and the Saudi Charge d’Affaires in Munich met Regional Director for the Middle East and Near East at the German Foreign Ministry Dr. Phillip Ackerman.
The envoys explained to the German official the steps which were taken by the four countries to sever diplomatic relations with the State of Qatar in light of their commitment to combat terrorism, dry up the sources of financing and fight extremism.
They stressed the failure of Doha authorities to meet their commitment and the signed agreements to stop aiding and harbouring individuals and organisations that threaten the security of other countries.
They pointed out that Doha continuously ignored calls to commit to the Riyadh agreement which was signed in 2013 as well as its addendum in 2014.
The envoys said that the Qatari failure to meet commitments exposed their countries to acts of sabotage and chaos, which are perpetrated by Qatari-based terrorist individuals and organisations which are supported by Doha authorities.
The envoys affirmed that their countries would firmly confront all these attempts which target their national security and the stability of their people.
The envoys stressed the keenness of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt on ensuring that the Qatari people is not affected due to the Doha-led policies.
“The Qatari people represents a natural extension of the other GCC peoples and an integral part of their roots and social fabric”, the envoys said, stressing their countries’ care for the humanitarian cases of mixed families.
The envoys heard the stance of the German Government as well as its role and efforts to defuse the crisis.
The German Government voiced its concern over the unfolding crisis, stressing the importance of seeking an inner GCC solution. The German Government also stressed the necessity of restoring regional security and stability, highlighting its shared interests with these countries.
