Egypt's Ambassador to Lebanon Mohamed Badreddin Zayed met with Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam who offered condolences to the Egyptian government and people over the demise of prosecutor general Hisham Barakat, a statement by the Foreign Ministry said.
Salam sent two messages to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab where he condoled with them over Barakat's death.
For his part, Zayed underlined that Egypt will win its war against terrorism.
The Egyptian diplomat stressed his country's support to the efforts exerted by Salam to achieve stability in Lebanon.
He also voiced hope that the political powers unite so as to protect official Lebanese institutions including the cabinet.
