Prime Minister Sherif Ismail

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail met on Sunday with the vice chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia.

They discussed means of boosting bilateral relations in all fields, Cabinet Spokesman Ashraf Sultan said.

Ismail stressed the Egyptian government's keenness on developing historic and distinguished relations with Indonesia in various fields.

He further thanked the Indonesian government for its stances in support of Egypt in the past period.

Ismail briefed the Indonesian official on the investment projects in Egypt, saying that the government seeks to achieve a growth rate of six percent in the coming period.

The prime minister called for stepping up bilateral cooperation in the tourism field and urged the Indonesian government to support the nomination of Egyptian Ambassador Moshira Khattab for the post of the director general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Ismail expressed hope that the number of Indonesian students at Egyptian universities would increase in the coming period.

The Indonesian official thanked the Egyptian premier for the warm reception and praised historic relations between the two countries.

He noted that his visit to Egypt came as part of his keenness on maintaining contacts with leaders of friendly countries to boost bilateral relations in all fields.

Indonesian companies are keen on benefiting from promising investment opportunities in the Egyptian market, he said.

The official also praised the level of security maintained in Egypt.
