Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Monday with Rose Gottemoeller, the US' Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security.

They discussed preparations for the UN Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty review conference that will convene next week in New York City.

Shoukry asserted Egypt's call for declaring the Middle East a region free from weapons of mass destruction.
