Cairo - MENA
Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry telephoned Saturday his Italian counterpart Paolo Gentiloni to condemn the terrorist attack, which took place early Saturday in front of the Italian Consulate in downtown Cairo.
Egypt will exert relentless efforts with all world countries, including Italy, to uproot and confront terrorism, affirmed Shoukry.
Terrorists will not hesitate to use their despicable tools against innocent people, he added.
Egypt plans to foil schemes, which aim to undermine its stability, he stressed.
The Italian foreign minister, for his part, strongly deplored the terrorist act.
He also voiced full support for Egypt in its war against terrorism.
He further extended condolences to the family of the deceased victim and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
The powerful explosion left one person dead and nine others injured, according to the Health Ministry.
A security source, meanwhile, said that
a number of unidentified persons had planted a bomb under a car parked outside the Italian Consulate.
The bomb was remotely detonated, the source told MENA.
