H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met in New York yesterday with Fayez Al Sarraj, Chairman of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord of Libya.
During the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the two sides discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries and means of boosting them in political, economic and vital fields.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed was briefed on the latest developments in Libya's political and security situation and developments related to Libya-Libya dialogue efforts, as well as his government's efforts to contain the Libyan crisis, fight terrorism, strengthen national institutions and meet the needs of the services sector.
Al Sarraj expressed his country's thanks and appreciation for the generous support and contributions made by the UAE to Libya to help them cope with the repercussions of the situation of insecurity and stability experienced by the country.
Sheikh Abdullah reiterated the UAE's principled stance in its unwavering support for Libya and the Government of National Accord and expressed his aspiration for the success of the political process in accordance with its agreed principles in the city of Skhirat under the auspices of the United Nations and restoring security and stability throughout the country.
The meeting was attended by Faris Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Advisor to the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, and Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, the UAE's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.
