Minister of Culture Dr. Abdullah Aubl Manthouk returned to Sana’a on Sunday after a several-day visit to Italy, which he described as successful and fruitful for the two countries. He pointed out that the talks he held with officials in the Italian Ministry of Culture focused on the importance of the historical relations between the two sides in a number of the cultural fields, including the field of archaeological excavations and its historical importance for Yemen. Manthouk added that the talks came up with results that will contribute to enhancing bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries in the field of archeology and the fight against smuggling of antiquities and preserving them and the restoration of historic cities in Yemen through the training and rehabilitation of the Yemeni cadres in this field. The minister indicated that it was agreed during the talks on building a school for restoration in Sana’a under the supervision of the Italians for training and rehabilitation of Yemeni cadres. Moreover, Manthouk noted that he attended a graduation ceremony of six Yemeni cadres, who have been prepared, trained and qualified for five months in Rome, in the field of restoration.
