Abu-Simbel Temple

Some 46 years ago, Abu-Simbel Temple was re-opened for visitors, after it was rescued by the UNESCO along with all world countries.
In 1960, Egypt and UNESCO urged all world countries to help in rescuing Nubian monuments due to the establishment of the High Dam.
The process of rescuing Abu-Simbel Temple took four years and a half, General Director of saving the monuments of Nubia fund Ahmed Saleh told MENA on Monday.
The rescue operation cost about 40 million dollars, half of which was paid by Egypt, he noted.
