In a presentation scheduled for 23 July at the Interference Archive in New York City, Egyptian visual artist popularly known as Ganzeer will discuss the socio-political context in which artwork has been produced over the past three tumultuous years.
Ganzeer is a self-assigned pseudonym used by this Cairo-based artist, who has been at the forefront of Egypt's street art movement that has particularly burgeoned following the January 25 Revolution.
The artist works both within and beyond the confines of gallery spaces, and engages in an assortment of art forms including design, site-specific installation and street art, among others.
