DUBAI - Emirates Voice
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Dubai Culture, the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture arts and heritage, has announced that it will be hosting a summer event under the theme, ‘Summer of Heritage’ at the Al Rashidiya branch of the Dubai Public Library. The event will run daily from 6th to 17th August 2017, excluding Fridays and Saturdays.
The event aims to raise awareness in the community about the UAE’s heritage, values and traditions, to ensure that this heritage is passed down to the next generations. It is an ideal opportunity for students who wish to make the most of their summer break by participating in enriching workshops, sessions and competitions that provide an educational and enjoyable atmosphere.
The event will include games and sessions that focus on promoting patriotism, UAE customs, traditions, crafts and hospitality, good manners and good behaviour.
Speaking on the event, Fatima Lootah, Manager of Dubai Heritage Development Centres, said, "Our ‘Summer of Heritage’ event has already attracted 50 students and various members of the Dubai Heritage Development Centres managed by Dubai Culture, including parents of students.
Through this event, we aim to achieve a number of goals such as supporting the culture, arts and heritage sector in the emirate, promoting cultural exchange, and ensuring that children’s free time is invested in fun and beneficial activities over summer."
Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the emirate’s rich heritage with a variety of initiatives that take place throughout the year. The authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures with enriching initiatives that benefit citizens, residents and visitors
