Talks were held here today between officials of Qatarinational banks and their counterparts in banks of the People’s Republic of China onthe sidelines of the current visit of HE the Governor of Qatar Central Bank SheikhAbdullah bin Saud Al Thani to China.The talks were attended on the Qatari side by chief executive officers of QatarNational Bank, Qatar Commercial Bank, Qatar International Islamic Bank, Al RayanBank (Masraf Al Rayan) and Doha Bank Ali Ahmed Al Kuwari, Abdullah Al Raeesi,Abdul Bassit Al Sheebi, Adel Mustafa and Dr. R Seetharaman (respectively).On the Chinese side the talks were attended by representatives of the Industrial and Commercial Bank, Agricultural Bank, Bank of China, Bank of Construction, Bank ofCommunications, in addition to representatives of the People’s Bank of China.Chief Executive Officer of Masraf Al Rayan Adel Mustafawi said in a statement toQatar News Agency (QNA) that the two sides discussed means of achievingcooperation between Qatari and Chinese banks and prospects of increasing areas ofcooperation to included exchange of expertise between the two sides.The Qatari side offered the possibility of opening braches of Qatari banks in China,especially Islamic banks, Mustafawi said explaining that the Chinese side promisedto study the offer. During the talks, the Chinese side discussed the possibility of cooperation with theQatari bank to develop dealing in the Chinese currently at foreign markets.Following the talks, HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani hosted a reception partyin honour of the representatives of Chinese banks and their Qatari counterparts.The function was attended by Qatar’s Ambassador in Beijing HE Sultan bin SalmeenAl Mansouri, a number of Qatar Central Bank’s officials and officials from thePeople’s Bank of China.
