The weight of local banks' lending to smaller firms has been falling since the 2008 global financial crisis as higher credit risks make them hesitant to extend lending, data showed Monday. Local banks' lending to small companies accounted for 75.2 percent of the total corporate loans of 646.4 trillion won (US$599.5 billion) as of end-December, according to the data by the central bank.
