Over 350 students from several academic institutions specialised in new information and communication technology (ICT) throughout the different regions of the country took part in the "Software Freedom Day Tunisia 2011" event, held on Saturday in Sfax under the motto: " Stop Being Consumer of Technology and Start Generating Value." This meeting, which is one of the 397 events organised in 100 countries, was held by the student branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) at the Sfax National School of Engineering. Organised in partnership with Orange Tunisia, this international event was marked by the presence of experts in information technology and communities specialised in open source technologies who presented action taken in matters of technological innovation in operating systems, web browsers and other fields and applications related to high-tech. Also on the agenda, the presentation of innovating projects in software proposed and developed by Tunisian designers as well as reliable economic schemes for companies specialised in freeware, through success stories. An intervention on the contribution of free software in Orange Tunisia's mobile development was also presented on the occasion.
