South Korea on Wednesday took its first step toward significantly cutting its greenhouse gas emissions, launching a project to develop and improve technologies for capturing and processing carbon dioxide. The move comes as the country pledged in 2009 to voluntarily cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent from its anticipated or business-as-usual levels in 2020.
