The calculator will provide customers with detailed comparisons

Are you reeling under a 'power shock'? And wonder how you can tap solar energy to reduce your zooming electricity bills in Dubai!

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has now made it easier for you to install rooftop solar panels. It has launched the 'Shams Dubai Calculator' web application to help customers opt for installation of photovoltaic (PV) panels under 'Shams Dubai' initiative.

The calculator will provide customers with detailed comparisons and additional information using innovative tools.

By providing your customer account number, you can easily identify your building's location and rooftops through an interactive map. You can measure the usable area, number of panels, and their total capacity on a monthly or annual basis. Using innovative interactive tools, you can also map out specific areas without the need to calculate the whole rooftop usable area.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, said the interactive map helps the customer obtain a lot of information; such as the green charger locations, and other Shams Dubai projects within the customer's neighbourhood. Results can also be shared through social media channels.

Al Tayer said the 'Shams Dubai Calculator' is an innovative service designed by DEWA for customers who desire to produce electricity from solar power.

The step supports the Shams Dubai initiative to strengthen the culture of sustainability among consumers in Dubai, by encouraging them to adopt sustainable solutions and clean production of electricity, using solar energy, transforming them from consumers to producers, and increasing their reliance on natural resources, he pointed out.  It also maintains a healthy and clean environment to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

Al Tayer stated the service contributes to encouraging customers to install solar panels to generate clean electricity and achieve financial savings through low electricity bills, as well as increase the value of the property.
