China should import more \"advanced technology, managerial experience, high-end talents and international brands\" to improve the quality of the country\'s industrial development, Vice Premier Wang Qishan said on Tuesday. Wang made the statement during the opening session of a four-day plenary meeting of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the 11th Chinese People\'s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China\'s political advisory body. While delivering a speech on China\'s international trade and investment, Wang said the country, the world\'s largest exporter and the second largest importer, should expand imports for a more balanced growth of foreign trade. China should pay greater attention to importing advanced technology, managerial experience, high-end talents and international brands, instead of simply using foreign capitals, he said. Wang called for more efforts to \"improve technological content and add value to exported goods.\" Efforts should be made to accelerate the implementation of the country\'s overall economic strategy by strengthening support for enterprises which invest overseas, preventing investment risks and improving the quality of foreign aid projects, he said. The opening session was presided over by CPPCC National Committee Chairman Jia Qinglin, who encouraged political advisors to actively put forward suggestions on restructuring the economy and promoting stable and rapid economic development.
