A female German aid worker who was kidnapped in Afghanistan in August has been released and is in good health, said German development organisation GIZ on Saturday.

"The German GIZ employee, kidnapped some nine weeks ago in Afghanistan, is free again," GIZ said in a statement. Her general condition "is good, considering the circumstances", it added.
