Cairo - MENA
An elderly Egyptian woman returned home from Lebanon to live in an elderly care center in Helwan, after working for more than 50 years in Lebanon, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid on Sunday.
The Egyptian Embassy in Beirut informed the consular sector at the Foreign Ministry in November that it intends to return the 90-year-old Egyptian woman, whose relations with her family and friends in Egypt are estranged, added the spokesman.
He also said that the Foreign Ministry contacted the Social Solidarity Ministry to secure a place for the Egyptian woman, who was working at a Lebanese family.
The woman was also unable to move to an elderly care in Lebanon as she did not have money and the Lebanese family was unable to help the woman anymore, he added.
The woman lived temporarily at one of the elderly care centers in Lebanon, after the Embassy contacted the Lebanese social affairs ministry.
The woman is in good health condition, he said, adding that the Foreign Ministry in cooperation with all the relevant bodies and ministries to pay attention to the Egyptians abroad.
