Dhaka - XINHUA
Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was invited on Sunday to visit the China-South Asia Expo to be held in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan province, in June this year. Li Jiheng, Yunnan Provincial Governor who is currently on a three-day visit to Bangladesh, handed over an official invitation letter to Hasina during a meeting in her office, her spokeswoman Mahbubul Hoque Shakil said. Hasina accepted the invitation, saying that she will try her best to be present at the exposition. She expressed the hope that the exposition would create a golden opportunity for the South Asian countries including Bangladesh. Hasina said all the member countries would benefit if the initiative for BCIM (Bangladesh, China, India and Myanmar) regional economic cooperation is implemented. She also stressed the need for direct communication between Bangladesh's southeastern port city Chittagong and Kunming. Li thanked Hasina for accepting the invitation, saying Bangladesh-China relationship is time-tested. Li arrived in Dhaka on Saturday to discuss mutual cooperation between the two countries.
