Minister of National Solidarity, Family and the Women affairs, Mounia Meslem pleaded Monday in Algiers for the establishment of an effective and concrete policy to handle youth problems and strengthen the role of family.
Speaking at the works of the economic and social youth conference, Meslem stressed the need to abandon the current analysis approaches in the treatment of youth issues and to adopt a strategic policy based on practical solutions, with the involvement of all stakeholders, including the family, given its important role in the formation of the individual.
The minister proposed to promote dialogue with young people, to encourage them to join the governance policy and to clean up their environment, in order to bring this category sheltered from dangers that lie in wait, emphasizing the role of the family and women in preparing young people for social and professional life.
Besides, the minister called for regional balance to ensure equal opportunities for young people, taking into account the specificities of each region.
For his part, representative of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security stated that the reduction of youth unemployment was among "the priorities of the state" which "made important steps" in reducing this phenomenon.
