H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court and Deputy Chairman of the Khalifa University Board of Trustees, yesterday chaired a Khalifa University Board of Trustees meeting at the University’s Abu Dhabi campus.
The meeting looked at upcoming events, such as the 2016 Graduation, and expanded on the University’s future research strategy.
Members of the Board of Trustees in attendance were Hussain Al Hammadi, Dr. Mugheer Al Khaili, Mohammed Hassan Omran, Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi and Hussain Jasim Al Nowais, as well as international members, Dr. Elias Zerhouni and Dr Maw Kuen Wu.
The event was also attended by Khalifa University’s senior management, Dr. Tod Laursen, President, Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi, Executive Vice President, Dr. Mohammed Al Mualla, Senior Vice President for Research and Development, Ebrahim Jafar Alahmed, Vice President for Administration and Finance and Mosallam Al Kathiri, Vice President for Human Resources.
Other topics of discussion at the meeting included the approval of high level organisational charts, an outlook of the 2015 budget, an overview of strategic planning and a quality assurance update.
In academics, the board reviewed the Spring 2015 enrollment, graduate student recruitment data and reviewed new programmes currently going through the approvals process. They also looked at conferences that the University is bidding to host in the next few years, and received an update on campus expansion.
During Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's visit to the campus, he had the opportunity to view the projects that had been entered in the recent UAE Drones for Good Award. Khalifa University was the only university in the UAE to make the finals in the international category, with a Fog Dissipation Drone, and it made the top five in the national category with a site inspection drone.
