Dundee - WAM
A total of 40 students from the UAE and Qatar graduated from the 3-week Multiculturalism and Leadership programme at the Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education in Dundee, Scotland. This is the 14th such educational programme since the first Summer School in 2003 and brings the total number of students visiting Dundee for programmes at the College to over 480. The Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education has opened its 2012 Scotland Summer School doors to female students from the UAE and Qatar. A graduation ceremony was held at the College under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum,deputy ruler of Dubai and UAE minister of finance for the students who come from a number of universities and colleges including Zayed University, Higher Colleges of Technology (Dubai Women's College), Abu Dhabi University, British University in Dubai, Qatar University, United Arab Emirates University, American University in Sharjah and College of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Dubai. Visits to the Dundee City Chambers, the University of Aberdeen, St Andrews. Edinburgh, the Highlands of Scotland, the Scottish Parliament The Municipality of Dundee and Loch Ness were included in the itinerary of the group of students. The group spent an additional week at Oxford University in England. Study and debate on Multiculturalism and Leadership played a prominent part in the students' stay in Dundee. In attendance at the graduation ceremony were the UAE ambassador to the UK Abdul Rehman Al Mutaiwei, Mirza Al-Sayegh, Director of the Office of H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Lord Elder, the Chancellor of Al-Maktoum Institute, Dr Hossein Godazgar, Acting Principal of the College and academicians and officials of participating universities.
