Eleven female students of the Islamic Studies college of Al-Azhar University in Zagazig city were expelled for inciting violence and staging on-campus protests.
As many as 31 students were referred to the disciplinary board, 11 of them were expelled, while 20 others are still under investigation, the college dean Amal Abdel Rahman said in a statement on Wednesday.
She added that the students got involved in actions inconsistent with the rules and the regulations of the university.
The Ministry of Higher Education asked the students to keep political wrangling outside universities and said those who get involved in any violent acts would be expelled.
